Coin World's Paper Money Values magazine is now offering collectors another way to enjoy their hobby.
Collectors visiting the Paper Money Values Web site can find out many details about their notes that are not readily evident when they look at them.
Coin World's Paper Money Values magazine is the first full-color slick magazine devoted exclusively to collecting paper money. The first issue appeared in subscribers’ mailboxes and on newsstands across the country in the fall of 2005. It is published by Amos Hobby Publishing, publisher of Coin World and Coin Values.
Some collectors may be unaware that the individual numerical listings in the magazine reflect variations within each paper money type, including the design on the note; the size, color, placement or shape of the Treasury seal; the Federal Reserve Bank designation; or even the signatures of government or bank officials.
Visitors to Coin World's Paper Money Values Web site, located at www.papermoneyvalues.com, can now click on the "Get More Information About Your Notes" button in the upper right-hand corner of the home page to access the new features.
After clicking that button, you will see several search options. You can search for more information by using the Friedberg number of a note, the universally accepted method of describing and cataloging United States paper money as developed and used in Arthur and Ira Friedberg's Paper Money of the United States. The Friedberg numbering system is the same one used in Coin World's Paper Money Values magazine.
But even if you do not have a copy of the magazine handy, you can still find out more information about your notes by searching by type of note, denomination, series date, seal or signatures (the latter by individual names or by signature pairs, a popular way to collect).
You can also locate information on your notes to determine at which Bureau of Engraving and Printing plant your notes were printed and on what kind of printing press.
The "Click here for help" link provides detailed information for each of the 11 search options. The "Browse all records" link on this page takes the user to a list of every note by Friedberg number.
The search results are displayed in a grid format offering collectors the opportunity to view all search results together or individually.
The "Click here for additional information about Paper Money" link at the top of the search page provides detailed information about series dates, seals, signatures, printing plants and currency presses. In addition there is a listing of the names and dates of service for the registers of the Treasury, the Treasury secretaries and the U.S. treasurers to date whose signatures appear on U.S. paper money.
Coin World's Paper Money Values is published quarterly and offers a wide variety of features aimed at increasing knowledge about and enjoyment of collecting paper money. Each issue looks at the people and history behind U.S. paper money, fun ways to put collections together, factors that determine a note’s grade (which, in turn, is used to establish its value), and a look at paper money from around the world.
An exclusive feature of the magazine is current retail values for some 17,000 U.S. notes actively collected and traded in today’s market. These up-to-date values can only be found in Coin World's Paper Money Values magazine. Paper money specialist Arthur L. Friedberg, co-author of the hobby’s authoritative Paper Money of the United States, provides his market analysis and values updates in each issue.
A one-year (four issues) subscription is available for $17.97 by calling (800) 253-4555 or sending payment with order to Paper Money Values, Box 876, Sidney, OH 45365.
